DISCIPLINE: In a Christian Educational environment, the elements of respect and courtesy are the keys
to discipline. All students must show respect and courtesy to staff, volunteers, property and themselves. In turn, students
will earn the respect of others. We believe in the four following principles:
- Every person has the right to be treated with respect.
- Positive Language - no name calling, swearing, put downs.
- Courteous in lines - no pushing, shoving, giving heads, etc.
- Everyone should be included in activities.
- Every person has the right (and obligation) to grow to his/her fullest potential. School is a place for learning!
- Students are prepared for class.
- Assignments are completed on time.
- Students/teachers are challenged to use their talents.
- Toys, gadgets, etc. are not brought to school since they interfere with the learning process.
- Every person has the right to feel safe & secure in our school environment.
- No fighting, pushing, or throwing snow.
- No running in hall or on steps.
- See
- Each person must respect the materials found in our environment.
- Every effort must be taken in care of books, equipment, etc.
- Every effort must be taken to take care of personal belongings.
- No writing on walls, playground equipment, etc.
At the beginning of each school year, the faculty will meet to review the discipline plan and determine natural consequences
if the above 4 principles are not followed. At the same time the faculty will determine ways of celebrating the efforts of
the students as they try to follow these principles. Parents will be notified if there is a concern regarding your child.
It is very important that parents, teachers, students, and principal work together to solve any problems that may arise. We
appreciate your support
LEAVING THE PREMISES Children will not be allowed to leave the school premises during the day, unless
they have a note from the parents. Please be sure to alert the school if someone other than parents will be picking your child(ren)
up. Parents are asked to stop in the office and sign their children out.
BICYCLERS AND WALKERS Children who ride their bicycles to school are responsible for them - a lock would help.
Bicycles may be parked in the bike rack. Bicycles should be walked to the assigned area from the street. No child is permitted
to ride a bicycle on the school grounds or the sidewalks near the school during the school day. Children who walk to school
should use the sidewalks and cross the street at the corners.
BUS Riding the bus is a privilege. In order to receive this privilege, students must follow the rules stated
below:
SCHOOL BUS SAFETY RULES
- Absolutely no smoking.
- Be on time. Bus cannot wait.
- Stay in seat while bus is moving.
- Keep bus clean.
- Keep head, hands, and arms inside bus.
- Be courteous, talk quietly.
- No swearing or foul language. Use appropriate language at all times.
- Treat bus and equipment kindly.
- Keep seated until bus stops.
- Cross in front of bus at driver's signal.
NORMAL PROCEDURE FOR DISCIPLINE REPORT
- First Offense: Written up, however, just a verbal warning to the student.
- Second Offense: Written up and sent to parents along with first offense. Conference with principal, bus driver, and student.
- Third Offense: Written up, conference with principal, bus company, parent, and student. Final decision will be discussed.
The above procedure may be altered for severe cases of misbehavior or violations of other existing policies, such as Sexual
Harassment, Tobacco and Alcohol Use, etc.
DRESS CODE The Board of Education passed the following dress code policy: That students be appropriately dressed
for school. This excludes monogrammed T-shirts in poor taste, bare midriffs, and other skimpy clothes. Students may wear shorts
on the days that the temperature is forecasted to reach 80 degrees or above. However, we ask that the students do not wear
shorts on Wednesday as that is the day we celebrate All-School Masses. It is expected that children come to school clean and
well-groomed. We ask that students dress warmly during the winter months - a sweater that may be removed if necessary.
